Kateel temple’s another divine duty
Mangaluru, July 26, 2021: It is not the annual festival of the temple nor any other religious program. But the ‘event,’ is nothing less than a divine duty. Without any caste and religious barriers, people gathered in large numbers at Kateel on Sunday. They were here to participate in the annual Blood donation camp.
Hundreds of devotees offer prayers at Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple every day. While the temple serves food to the devotees and runs education institutions, the temple administration is also actively involved in health service.
The 15th annual Blood donation camp was held on Sunday. The event was organized in association with Kateel School alumni association and various organization. While many attend the blood donation every year including the Asranna (Hereditary Archaks of Kateel) family, Robert Rosario and Yatheesh Shetty have been doing it every year without fail!
“Robert Rosario and Yatheesh Shetty have been donating blood in our camp every year. They do it in other places also. To recognize their contribution, they were felicitated yesterday,” temple hereditary archak Sriharinarayanadasa Asranna, one of the key persons behind the blood donation camp told The Canara Post.
Sriharinarayanadasa Asranna has donated blood for 13 years. As he had a fever last year he could not donate blood then. This year too he could not as he took vaccine last week.
On Sunday Sriharinarayanadasa Asranna, his daughter, his elder brother Ananthapadmanabha Asranna donated blood.
“There are many people who attend the camp regularly from the nearby village. We are grateful to them. Participating in the blood donation camp is also like a seva as it saves life. This year without much publicity 130 people donated blood,” he added.
