Sri Vidyadhiraja Teertha Swamiji no more
Mangaluru, July 19, 2021: His Holiness Srimad Vidyadhiraj Teertha Sripad Vader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math passed away today.
On Monday after the Nirmalya Pooja, Swamiji went and sat on his seat holding a book.
“When his disciple, Vidyadheesha Teertha Swamiji who stays on the upper floor came to meet Guru, he found the Guru in sitting posture. Samadhi attained in the real sense,” Matha sources said.
He was the 23rd Matadhipathi of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, Partagali, Goa. He took Sanyasa Deeksha on February 26, 1967 from Sri Dwarakanath Teertha Swamiji at Sri Ram Mandir Wadala, Mumbai.
On April 5, 1973, he ascended the Gurupeetha and since then worked tirelessly for the spiritual upliftment of the followers. Several old temples and branches of the Math were renovated and rebuilt under his leadership.
He was always involved in religious activities and known for his keen interest and service to Madhwa Siddhantha. He had a close association with almost all the Madhva Mathas.
A scholar in Sanskrit, Swamiji had studied the important religious works and was an authority. He was keen on protecting the ancient scriptures.
In 2016, the Swamiji performed the Suvarna Chaturmas to commentate the 50th year of diksha sweekar at Mangalore.
In the next year, he conferred Deeksha to Sri Vidyadheesha Teertha Swamiji and appointed his successor.
