Thawarchand Gehlot appointed as governor of Karnataka
Bengaluru, July 06, 2021: Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Thawarchand Gehlot has been appointed as the new governor of Karnataka.
He is among the eight new governors appointed by the central government today.

- Mangubhai Chaganbhai Patel – MP
- Rajendran Vishwanath Arlekar -Himachal Pradesh
- PS Sreedharan Pillai -Goa
- Satyadev Narayan Arya – Tripura
- Ramesh Bais -Jharkhand
- Bandaru Dattatreya – Haryana
Born on May 18, 1948, Gehlot is at present the member of Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. He is awarded with honorary deoctorate by Dr B R Ambedkar University of Society Sciences.
From 1996 to 2009 he had represented Shajapur Lok Sabha constituency. He is one of the seniormost leaders of the BJP.
