Bus service to resume in Udupi from July 1
Udupi, June 25, 2021: Bus service will resume in Udupi district from July 1.
Buses had gone off the road following lockdown restrictions.
While the unlock process has already started and all activities have resumed, the bus service has not yet begun in the district. This had left the people, especially those who completely depend on public transport in a fix. The private bus owners too are suffering huge losses since one year due to Covid and lockdown restrictions.
Public, as well as the bus owners, had approached the district administration and elected representatives to decide on this.
Taking serious note of this problem, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat held a meeting today.
The meeting held at DC’s Court hall comprised Udupi bus owners’ association president Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, senior officials including Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh, Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu RTO J P Gangadhar, and others.
“It was decided to resume bus service in the district by following social distancing from July 1,” MLA Raghupathi Bhat said.
The service will be available in both urban as well as in villages.
He said initially about 50 percent of buses will start service. The number of buses will be increased considering the demand.
