Campco to reopen arecanut procurement
Mangaluru, May 14, 2021: The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd, will reopen the procurement operations from May 17.
In support of the call given by the Government in breaking the chain during the pandemic, Campco had temporarily closed down its procurement activities.
But as arecanut is a major crop in Karnataka and Kerala, Campco has decided to commence its Arecanut and Cocoa procurement operations at its various branches in the two states from May 17.
“Taking all measures for the safety of our members and staff, Campco will restrict the purchases of arecanut to one quintal per member during the lockdown period. A maximum of 25 Members at Branches (15 Members at sub-centers once a week) can tender their produce through the token system,” Campco’s press statement said.
The procurement of Cocoa Beans will continue. However, the procurement of pepper is discontinued at all Branches for the time being.
Chairman A. Kishore Kumar Kodgi and Managing Director H.M.Krishna Kumar have requested the cooperation of all the concerned.
