Vaccination for 18-44 age group from May 10
- Initially only in major govt hospitals and govt medical colleges
- Vaccine only for those with scheduled appointment
- Health Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar appeals to youth to wait for their turn
Bengaluru, May 09, 2021: The state government has decided to provide COVID-19 vaccination to citizens of the 18-44 age group at all major government hospitals and medical colleges from May 10.
Giving details about the vaccination, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar said that in Bengaluru the vaccination will be provided at KC General Hospital, Jayanagar General Hospital, Sir C.V.Raman General Hospital, Government Medical Colleges, ESI Hospitals, and NIMHANS.
It is estimated that there are about 3.26 crore people in the state of the 18-44 age group. State needs 6.52 crore doses to fully vaccinate with 2 doses.
In other districts, initially, the vaccination will be provided at District Hospitals, Government Medical Colleges, and all Taluka Hospitals. The number of centers will be increased as the state gets more vaccine supply.

All Vaccination Centres providing vaccination for this age group 18 to 44 will have an exclusive session site earmarked for them. Vaccination will be provided to only those who have registered and scheduled an appointment on CoWin portal or Arogya Sethu app and walk-ins will not be allowed.
“Government is leaving no stone unturned to vaccinate each and every citizen at earliest. We are making continuous efforts to secure the supply of vaccines. I urge all citizens, especially my young friends, to wait for your turn and govt will ensure you will surely get your jab,” Dr. Sudhakar appealed to the youth.
Earlier on May 1st, CM BS Yediyurappa had flagged off the 4th phase of the drive.

To fulfill this requirement state government has already placed an order for 2 crore doses of covishield and 1 crore doses of covaxin. Serum Institute which manufactures Covishield has already supplied 6.5 lakh doses of vaccine. More consignments will be delivered by May second or third week.
