Fire reported onboard INS Vikramaditya
Karwar, May08, 2021: INS Vikramaditya experienced a minor fire incident at Karwar in the early hours of May 8.
The duty staff observed smoke from the part of ship having accommodation for sailors.
The ship’s duty personnel immediately took steps to extinguish the fire. All personnel onboard are safe. No major damage has been reported. An inquiry into the incident is being ordered, according to the Navy.
The ship was commissioned on November 16, 2013 and formally inducted into the Indian Navy on June 14, 2014.
