Two cattle killed, seven houses damaged

Udupi, May 06, 2021: Rain accompanied by lightning has resulted in the death of cattle and damage to seven houses in Udupi district.

The cattle belonging to Shridhar Bhat of Kudi village and Jayanthi Shetty of Havanje village (both Brahmavar Taluk) died due to lightning on May 5.

As many as even houses were damaged in the district. Three in Karkala taluk, one each in Udupi, Kaup and Brahmavar.
While the house of Sandeep of 80 Badagubettu village was partially damaged due to lightning (estimated loss of ₹ 50,000), the residence of Janardhan Achari of Kukkuje in Karkala Taluk was damaged due to rain and wind. The estimated loss is ₹ 10,000.

Raghu Nayak’s house in Marne village was damaged due to lightning (loss ₹ 40,000). The houses of Lalitha of Mudar and Subraya Prabhu of Shirlalu too were damaged (estimated loss of ₹ 10,000 each).

Rain accompanied by wind damaged the house of Ganesh in Belma village (loss Rs 40,000). Lightning damaged the house of Gange of Kudi village partially resulting in a loss of ₹ 5,000)
