Fight in Mangaluru prison: Two injured

Mangaluru, April 25, 2021: Two undertrials were injured during a rift between the inmates at Mangaluru prison today morning.

Police said that Sameer, an accused in robbery case of Panambur who is in prison since July 2020 Ansar and Jainuddin using spoons and small kitchen items.

Ansar was arrested by Mulki police last month. Jainaluddin is accused in Moodabidri dacoity case. Ansar has sustained injuries on arms and leg and Jainaluddin got injuries on shoulders and back.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot.

Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar who visited the prison said that while attacking Ansar and Jinaluddin, Sameer had tried to attack prison personnel also who tried to control him. About three personnel sustained minor injuries.

“Based on the complaint of the prison authorities and victims we will register a case,” he said.
