Udupi Sri Krishna Matha to go Aatma Nirbhar in power production
Udupi, March 19, 2021: Udupi Sri Krishna Matha is all set to be illuminated with solar power.
Paryaya Peetadhipathi Sri Eeshapriya Tirtha Sripadaru has taken up various eco-friendly measures in his Paryaya tenure at the Matha in last one year. Now he has initiated a step towards being ‘Aatma Nirbhar,’ in power generation by setting up a solar power unit that would generate 540 units daily.
“There is a need for a considerable amount of electricity in the Matha for various purposes. A power generation unit would help Matha in meeting the power demand. As a result, Swamiji came up with the idea of setting up an eco-friendly solar power unit of 135 kwp at an estimated cost of ₹60 lakh,” Adamaru Matha manager Govindraj told reporters.
The average daily power generation of this unit would be 540 units.
He added that this project would strengthen the ‘Aatmanirbhar,’ concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The solar panel will be installed in 12,000 square feet area atop the Rajangana hall adjacent to Sri Krishna Matha. The work is expected to be completed by April 10.
Govindraj said that the annual electricity bill of Sri Krishna Matha is about ₹ 24 lakh. Once the solar unit is commissioned the bill is likely to decrease by ₹ 18 lakh.
“The Karnataka Bank has assured to provide 1/3 of the total estimated cost. Devotees can participate in this program through donations,” he said.
Orb Energy Assistant general manager Balakrishna Acharya said that the return on investment is expected in four years.
