Udupi, March 19, 2021: With social media abuzz about lack of facility for the trainees who had come for Army Recruitment Camp in Udupi, former Youth service and sports minister Pramod Madhwaraj took up the issue with Udupi Deputy Commissioner today.

Army Recruitment Camp is being held at Ajjarkad stadium in Udupi. On Friday morning, social media was abuzz with photos of candidates sleeping on the roadside. People expressed their unhappiness over the lack of facility to the future soldiers.

Pramod Madhwaraj who saw some of these messages on Twitter immediately responded to take it up with the officials.

“Very unfortunate. The defence ministry should formulate a scheme to atleast provide food and shelter to those attending such recruitment drive . This is not the way to treat our youth who dream of serving the nation,” Pramod tweeted tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He then spoke to the Deputy Commissioner. The latter told Pramod that food and shelter has been arranged in various places but the young boys were not utilizing the facilities fully. The DC had asked the police to guide them to various locations where arrangements have been made.

Udupi DC’s Twitter handle too had a similar message.

“The District Administration has made all arrangements for food and stay with the help of donors and without spending any money from the government,” the DC tweeted.
