Google Doodle honors Udupi Ramachandra Rao
Udupi, March 10, 2021: Google celebrated the 89th birthday of Prof Udupi Ramachandra Rao, popular as U R Rao with his Doodle on its homepage today.
The animated Doodle has the globe and shooting starts in the background and shows the former Chairman of ISRO holding a satellite. The satellite is placed on the second ‘O,’ of Google.
Born on March 10, 1932, at Adamaru village of Udupi district, completed his secondary education at Christian High School. Guided by Dr. Vikram Sarabai, he did his Ph.D. at Physical Research Laboratory Ahmedabad.
Prof Rao who began his career as a cosmic ray scientist was an instrumental person behind the design and launch of various satellites. He had served as the chairman of ISRO from 1984 to 1994.
He died on July 24, 2017.
