Udupi Additional DC cracks the whip on litterbug
Udupi, March 03, 2021: Garbage and waste dumped on the roadside have turned a headache to the administration as well as the public. Despite regular cleanup drives by various organizations, some people continue to litter.
Many vehicles slow down and throw the garbage and flee from the spot. On Wednesday a driver of a truck was caught doing a similar act in Udupi by the Udupi City Municipality officials and Udupi Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu who took him to task and imposed a heavy fine on him.
A few days ago the Udupi City Municipality along with like-minded organizations had cleaned the stretch along the NH 66 between Nittur and Kinnimulki.
After the drive, the Municipal officials keep a tab on the people throwing garbage on this stretch. The officials had caught several violators and imposed a fine.
Today a truck driver stopped in this stretch to throw waste when Municipality Senior Health Inspector Shashirekha and the team arrived. ADC Sadashiva Prabhu who too was passing by stopped and took the truck driver to task and warned him. He directed the officials to seize the vehicle for 48 hours and impose a fine of ₹5,000.
