Mangaluru, Feb 24, 2021: In a major operation, Mangaluru City Police have arrested four who were involved in ATM skimming.

Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that the four were involved in ATM skimming at Kulai, Chilimbi, Naguri, Kapitanio, Mangaladevi by installing skimmers in ATM machines.

The data collected was used to prepare fake ATM cards and money was withdrawn from ATMs in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kasargod, Madikeri, Goa, and other places.

As many as 22 skimming cases have been registered at Mangaluru City Cyber Crime Police Station.

A well-planned investigation using technology, especially CCTV cameras installed in the ATM, has now helped the police in the probe. The accused have finally been nabbed by the police now.

The four accused arrested are

  • Glavin Jinto Joy alias Jinto (37) of Talakadi Thrissur (Kerala).
  • Dinesh Singh Rawat (44) of Prem Nagar, New Delhi.
  • Abdul Majeed (27) of Kodlu, Kasargod (Kerala),
  • Rahul T S (24) of Alappuzha (Kerala).

Police have seized skimming devices, two cars, fake ATM cards, five mobile phones, Two Apple watch.

The total worth of seized items is estimated to be ₹25 lakh.
