Advanced Multi-Light Technology Endoscope inaugurated at Kasturba Hospital
Day-care endoscope services started
Manipal, Jan 21, 2021: Advanced Multi-Light Technology Endoscope (LCI) and Day-care Services were inaugurated at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal by MAHE pro-chancellor Dr. H S Ballal.
MAHE pro-vice-chancellor Dr. P L N G Rao, KMC Dean Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao, Medical Superintendent Dr. Avinash Shetty, Chief Operating Officer CG Muthana, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Professor and Head Dr. Shiran Shetty, and Fujifilm India Pvt Ltd Regional Sales Manager Balu Mahendran were present.
Inaugurating the Advanced Endoscope Dr. Ballal and said that world-class service is now available at Kasturba Hospital at an affordable cost.
“The new technology will help our doctors to identify the rare disease and provide the best in care treatment for the patients,” he said.
He also congratulated the team for starting day-care services which will help the patients in reducing the treatment time.
In his overview, Dr. Shiran Shetty said that the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides complete care to the digestive system.
He said the new technology will help to detect early lesions like cancer, polyp, ulcer, pylori infection compared to previous technology. This image enhanced endoscope can identify lesion without a biopsy. The small bowel enteroscopy helps to identify and treat diseases of the small intestine like ulcers, bleed, polyp, and stricture.
“We are starting day-care endoscopic services including therapeutic procedures which enables the patient to receive treatment without being admitted to the hospital. Many complex procedures like Endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP, Colonoscopic, and Upper GI endoscopic therapeutic procedures are being done on a day-care basis. Patients can come directly to our scope suite and get discharged by evening. This will benefit many people who can avail endoscopic services as needed on a day-care basis and will be cost-effective,” Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent said.
