B C Patil for research on Kaarla Kaje

Karkala, Jan 19, 2021: Agriculture Minister B C Patil has directed the Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture University to conduct research on ‘Kaarla Kaje,’ a boiled rice verity of Karkala Taluk for its certification.

The Parampara Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd has taken initiative to market the boiled rice under its brand name ‘Kaarla Kaje’.

Agriculture Minister B C Patil was in Karkala to release the rice brand today.

“People believe this verity of rice has rich nutrients. Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture University (present in the program) should take immediate steps to certify it after proper research of the paddy verity to know its contents and uniqueness,” BC Patil told at the program.

“It will help in providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) and also subsidy for the seed,” he added.
