New ‘Suvarna Chatra,’ to be dedicated for Udupi Sri Krishna on Jan 14
Udupi, Jan 12, 2021: The new Suvarna Chatra (Golden Umbrella) will be dedicated to Udupi Sri Krishna on Makara Sankramana- January 14.
The golden umbrella is used during the daily alankara of Udupi Sri Krishna.
As the gold umbrella that is currently being used is almost worn out Adamaru Matha senior peetadhipathi Sri Vishwapriya Teertha Sripadaru and Paryaya Peetadhipathi Sri Eeshapriya Teertha Sripadaru decided to have the new Suvarna Chatra to Sri Krishna.
The umbrella weighs 2.5 kg. The total cost is ₹50 lakh. The amount received from the old gold is ₹15 lakh.
