Baby Shower for a Cow in Udupi

Gauri was found injured near DC office few days ago

Udupi, Jan 06, 2021: She was found in an injured state near Udupi DC office in Manipal few days ago. As she was pregnant, nearby rickshaw drivers took extra care and later Hosabelaku Seva Trust provided her the necessary treatment. As she has recovered, the Trust members and like-minded people held a ‘Seemantha,’ (baby shower) today.

But this baby shower was an unusual one as it was for a cow!
Yes, Gauri, as she is named now, was grazing near Rajatadri in Manipal about 20 days ago when she was hit by a vehicle. Gauri had sustained serious injuries. With blood oozing out from her body, she was in a very bad state. The nearby auto-rickshaw drivers immediately jumped into action and took care of her. The Hosabelaku Seva Trust led by Tanula Tarun provided all the necessary treatment including a specially designed apparatus to help her walk.

Now when she has recovered from the injury and shock, they decided to hold a ‘baby shower,’ for the cow.

The program was organized by Hosabelaku Seva Trust in association with activists Nithyananda Volakad, Taranath Mestha, Vinayaachandra Acharya, and others.

Everything was as per the ritual. After the bath, she was draped in a green saree. Rice, coconut, and other items were given to her as per the Baby Shower rituals.
