Canara, Dec 27, 2020: The second phase saw more turnout compared to the first in the Coastal Karnataka districts.

The turnout of Uttara Kannada district stood at 81.41 percent. The final report states that of the seven Taluks that went for election in Uttara Kannada today, five recorded more than 80 percent voting. The highest was 84.64 percent at Haliyal Taluk and the lowest was in Dandeli which recorded 75.23 percent voting.
Udupi district recorded 75.42 percent voting.

The highest was 76.21 percent in Karkala taluk. Of the three taluks in Udupi which went for election today, Kaup had 73.07 percent voting.

The turnout in Dakshina Kannada was 78.69 percent. According to the preliminary report, Sullia recorded the highest with 80.54 percent and Kadaba had the least of the four taluks today.
The election process went on smoothly without any major untoward incidents in the region.

Canara districts, Dec 27, 2020: People enthusiastically participated in the second phase of the Gram Panchayat election on Sunday.

While almost all the Taluks that went for elections in the Canara cost recorded over 10 percent votes by 9 am, people of remote villages seemed to be more interested. Joida, the Taluk in Uttara Kannada district recorded the highest turnout of 19.93 percent.

Elections are being held for 14 taluks in the Canara region.

Seven Taluks in Uttara Kananda: Sirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur, Mundgod, Haliyal, Dandeli and Joida.
Three taluks in Udupi district: Kaup, Karkala and Kundapur
Four taluks in DK: Belthangady, Puttur, Sullia and Kadaba.

At Kaudur in Udupi district

At 9 am DK recorded a 14.83 percent turnout, Udupi district recorded 12.48 percent, and Uttara Kannada 10.26 percent.

Security beefed up: Security has been beefed up as several villages in Karakala and Belthangady are considered as Naxal infested. Police vehicles are conducting regular patrolling. Anti Naxal Force teams have already conducted combing in these villages. However no untoward incident has been reported from any places. Election is being conducted peacefully.
