Karwar, Dec 13, 2020: Police and Model Code of Conduct teams will closely monitor if any unethical means are followed for unanimous election in Gram Panchayat polls.

This is done based on the directions of the Election Commission, to prevent election-related illegalities.

Uttara Kannada district administration has decided to closely monitor the cases of unanimous election in Panchayat Elections.
The scrutiny of the first phase of the election is completed and the nomination for the second phase has started.

Siddapur, Sirsi, Mundagod, Yellapur, Haliyala, Dandeli, and Joida Taluks will go for election in the second phase.

If there is only one nomination in the ward (after withdrawal) then that person is declared as unanimously elected. But the Election Commission has decided to closely monitor if these are genuine or if any unethical practices are followed to achieve unanimity.

The deputy commissioners of all the districts have been asked to keep an eye on every such case.

If anybody indulges in luring or any other illegality to manufacture unanimity then the district administration will recommend state election commission for a strict action.

All the police and Model Code of Conduct teams have been asked to keep an eye on such cases.
