Mangaluru, Dec 08, 2020: Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Akshy Sridhar visited the place at Bejai Anegundi, where sewage water is being let into the Storm Water Drain.

Sewage water is being let into the open drain at Bejai Anegundi in Mangaluru City. While the residents failed to get any solution despite complaining about it to the elected representatives and the officials, they brought it to the notice of National Environment Care Federation (NECF) state secretary Shashdhar Shetty who took up the issue.

It received good support not only in Mangaluru but also in other parts of the state.
MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar who received complaint about the problem from NECF arrived for a spot inspection today morning.

The Shashidhar Shetty along with NECF members Ashok Subbaiah, Ajay D’Silva, Nagesh, and Jonas explained the problem to the Commissioner. They also stated that a similar problem existed in as many as 18 places in the City.

The Commissioner who patiently listen to all the problem assured to take necessary steps.

“We have placed the problem before the Commissioner. We are sure that he would look into it and take the necessary action. However, we also told him that if the Corporation fails to take action, then we will have to initiate legal steps. As per the NGT order ₹1 lakh penalty can be imposed per day in such cases. Also, there is an option to take action against the erring officials,” Shashidhar Shetty told The Canara Post.
