Uttara Kannada gears up for TB detection campaign
Karwar, Dec 02, 2020: Uttara Kannada district is gearing up for the month-long active Tuberculosis detection campaign.
The campaign is being held from December 1 to 31 where the AASH and health department workers will conduct door to door survey to identify active TB cases.
The health department has identified vulnerable groups.
People in slums, prison, Old Age Homes, construction workers colony, homeless, orphanages, and such groups will come under the survey.
The team will visit these people and check if they have any symptoms. The symptomatic will be suggested to undergo a test.
Those suffering from
- More than two weeks of Cough
- Fever, especially in the evening
- Chest pain, fall in weight, and not feeling hungry
- Sputum with bloodstains
In Uttara Kannada 473 teams will be involved in the survey work. They will visit 53,279 houses. Each team will have one ASHA worker and one Health Department Personnel. Those with TB will be provided with DOTS medicine.
CB NAAT machines are operational at Karwar District Hospital and Pandit Public Hospital. TRUE NAAT machines are at Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Mundagod, Haliyal Taluk Hospital, and Dandeli Public Hospital.
