Pillion rider killed in accident
Bantwal, Dec 02, 2020: A pillion rider was killed in an accident near Kombinadka Mosque in Bantwal Taluk.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when Anusha and Claramma were in a two-wheeler.
Seeing a Pickup vehicle coming on the road, Anusha allegedly drove the two-wheeler to the edge of the road near Kombinadka Mosque of Bantwal. The two-wheeler skid. Claramma, the pillion rider who did not wear a helmet sustained critical head injuries. She was given first aid at the Punjalkatte PHC. She died while being shifted to Bantwal Hospital.
A case under IPC Section 279 and 304 (A) has been registered at Bantwal Police Station.
Referring to the case, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police B M Laxmi Prasad has stressed the need for both the rider and pillion rider to wear a helmet.
