Udupi, Oct 27: ‘Paschima Jaagara Pooja,’ one of the special Poojas offered to Lord Krishna started on Ashwayuja Masa Ekadashi- today.

As per the tradition, the Paschima Jaagara Pooja is held at Udupi Sri Krishna Matha every morning, before sunrise, for one month from Ashwayuja Masa Shukla Ekadashi to Uthana Dwadashi (Tulasi Pooja).

Prayaya Matadhisha Sri Eesha Priya Teertha Sripadaru offered special Pooja to Sri Krishna. The temple is lit up with lamps, which is one of the main attractions.

Koormarathi (The arathi in the shape of Koorma or Tortoise) is first offered to Sri Krishna and later to Sri Mukhyaprana (Hanuman), Sri Madhwacharya, and Sri Garuda.

As per the tradition, Sri Narayana gets up from his Yoga Nidra on Uthana Dwadashi. The Paschima Jagara Pooja precedes this event.
