Bharat Bank former chief Jaya C Suvarna no more
Mangaluru, Oct 21: Renowned entrepreneur and Founder president of Billava Mahamandala, Jaya C Suvarna passed away in Mumbai on Oct 21 morning. He was 74.
Born on May 15, 1946, at Adve village near Mulky in Dakshina Kannada district, Jaya C Suvarna began his life journey as a hotel employee.
He climbed the steps of success over the years and in about five decades became a successful person himself and also a prominent personality who provided employment and education to hundreds of people, especially those from poor and needy families.
A close associate of B Janardhan Poojary:
Jaya C Suvarna was a close associate of former Union Minister and Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary.
With the help of Poojary, Jaya C Suvarna, as the Chairman strengthened The Bharat Co-Operative Bank Ltd. The bank which started with just two branches now has crossed 100 and is one of the leading scheduled Co-operative banks in the country.
He was also the force in uniting and strengthening the Billava community in Mumbai, the city where hundreds of youths from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada had migrated for employment.
Again with the help of Poojary, he was instrumental in the construction of the Billava Association building near Mumbai Airport.
Kudroli:
A great devotee of Kudrli Sri Gokarnanatha, Jaya C Suvarna reserved his time for the service of the temple. He was the Chairman of the Development Committee of the temple.
Family:
Jaya C Suvarna is survived by his wife Leelavathi and four sons.
Leaders including Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, KEONICS chairman Harikrishna Bantwal, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar and former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj have condoled the death of Jaya C Suvarna.
