Mangaluru, Oct 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed former MLC Ivan D’Souza’s demand for an ACB probe into the alleged irregularities in the smart city works.
BJP is the ruling party in the Mangaluru City Corporation. Recently Congress leader and former MLC Ivan D’Souza had alleged irregularities in the Smart City works and demanded a probe into it.
Mayor Divakar, deputy Mayor Vedavathi, chief whip Premanand Shetty and senior Corporator Sudhir Shetty Kannur held a press conference today and welcomed Ivan’s demand.
“About 60 percent of the works were done when Congress was in power. They started when Congress’s MLA and Minister were in power. We have no objection to ACB investigation into any irregularities. Let the truth be placed before the people,” Sudhir Shetty Kannur declared.
“Ivan has alleged that the estimates for the works under Smart City project have cost three times more than the original. It is over two years since the Smart City Project started. The estimate of over 60 percent of the works were prepared when Congress was in power. We also have doubts about irregularities by those in power at that time. So we welcome ACB or Lokayukta probe into this,” he added.
