Accused in BJP leader murder case hacked to death
Mangaluru, October 08: A murder accused was hacked to death by unknown assailants at Sullia on Thursday early morning.
The dead is identified as Sampath Kumar, accused in the Balachandra Kalagi murder case.
The incident took place at Shanthinagar in Sullia. On October 8 around 6.45 am, Sampath had got into his car and was about to leave when the assailants allegedly came in a car attacked him.
Sampath tried to run and escape when they followed him and attacked him with sword-like weapon. Gunshots were also heard twice. However, it is not clear if it Sampath.
The serious injury on his head by the sharp weapon is likely to be the cause of death, according to police officials.
Balachandra Kalagi case:
Balachandra Kalagi, the Kodagu district general secretary of BJP met with an ‘accident,’ while he was returning home on March 19, 2019. His Omni car was hit by a truck.
His uncle who suspected foul play had filed a police complaint. During the investigation the police had found that it was actually a murder. Sampath Kumar had allegedly paid money (supari) to the lorry driver to murder Balachandra Kalagi.
