Mangaluru, July 20: With 89 new cases, Dakshina Kannada saw a fall in the number of cases on Monday.
Since the past few days, the district used to record more than 200 cases every day. After many days the district saw cases less than 100. 
  
According to the health bulletin, 57 were discharged today. With this, the total number of active cases in the district is 2,055. To date 1,548 have recovered. The total number of cases registered in the district is 3,685.
Of the 89 cases on Monday, 11 were primary contacts, 45 had influenza-like illness, 16 had respiratory infection and two had come from abroad. Meanwhile, the source of 15 patients is under tracing.
Deaths: (All the tested with COVID.)
1. 55-year-old male of Mangaluru was admitted to Wenlock Hospital on July 15. He died on July 19. He had BP, Diabetes, kidney problem, and also tested with COVID. 
2. A 63-year-old person from Mangaluru was admitted to a private hospital on July 18. He had BP, diabetes, kidney, and heart problem. 
3. A 42-year-old person from Belthangady was admitted to a private hospital. He died on July 19. He was suffering from Severe Metabolic Acidosis, Multiple organ failure, metabolic hepatic encephalopathy.
4. A 65-year-old person from Chikkamagalur was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. He had various health issues and died on July 19.
5. Officials have also found the two-month-old child which died on July 18 having COVID. 
The child from Bantwal taluk was admitted to hospital on July 17 with a severe fever, vomiting, and breathing problem and died on July 18. A team of 8 experts who studied the reason for death has concluded that ‘DIC resulting from multiorgan dysfunction COVID-19 test being positive as an associated finding.’ the report has been submitted to the government.
