Health Department’s circular on utilization of hospital beds

Bengaluru, July 18: The Health and Family Welfare Commissioner has sent a circular in connection to utilization of hospital beds for moderately and severely ill COVID-19 patients.
The circular stressed on admitting moderately and severely ill patients in hospitals and encourage asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients to get admitted in COVID Care Centers (CCC) or be in home isolation.
“In view of recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru and other districts of the state, many patients are visiting various hospitals and seeking admission. In the process, moderately and severely ill COVID-19 patients are sometimes unable to get admission in hospitals,” the circular stated.
“In this context, it would be prudent to admit moderately and severely ill patients in hospitals, both government and private and encourage asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients to get admitted in COVID Care Centres (CCC) or be in home isolation as per their eligibility and suitability following triage,” it said.
The circular also asked all the hospitals to comply with the above recommendation in the larger public interest and prevention of COVID-19 mortality.
