 Haliyal contributes major share to COVID cases in Uttara Kannada

Mangaluru, July 15: The number of positives saw a dip in Dakshina Kannada with the district recording 73 cases on Wednesday. The total number of positive cases in the district is 2,525 of which 1,379 are active.
Karnataka recorded 3,176 cases today of which 1,975 are from Bengaluru Urban. Of the 87 deaths Bengaluru Urban recorded 60 today. The total positive cases in Bengaluru Urban is 22944 of which 17051 are active. 
Dakshina Kannada: Among those who tested positive today, 23 had influenza-like illness, 3 had respiratory infection, three had returned from abroad, one from other districts, and 11 are primary contacts of positives. 
The source of 32 is under tracing.
Deaths: 
1. 60-year-old female from Sullia. Death on July 14.
2. 73-year-old male from Bantwal. Death on July 14.
3. 70-year-old male from Bantwal. Death on July 15.
4. 68-year-old female from Bantwal death on July 15.
Uttara Kannada district: The district recorded 76 cases on Wednesday. Haliyal Taluk saw a steep increase as half the number of positives in the districts were from Haliyal. Haliyal recorded 37 cases, Yellapur 16, Sirsi 8, Kumta 6, Karwar 4, Mundagod 3, and Bhatkal 2.
Udupi: The district recorded 53 new cases and one death. The swab of the 82-year-old person from Padubidri who died on Monday was sent for testing. The result on Tuesday night confirmed him COVID positive. 
According to sources two doctors of the Government hospital and four staff were among the 53 new cases on Wednesday.
Of the patients, two had come from Mumbai and two from Bengaluru. Sixteen had influenza-like illness and 33 are primary contacts of positive.
