Arabian sea along Canara coast to be rough
Mangaluru, June 16: In addition to heavy rain in many places, the Arabian sea is all set to turn rough along with the coastal Karnataka.
High waves ranging between 2.7 to 3.5 meters are forecasted between June 15 evening to 11:30 pm of June 17 along the coast of Karnataka from Mangalore to Karwar. Surface Current speeds likely to vary between 35 – 55 cm/sec.
Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
Meanwhile, heavy rain is likely to continue in many parts of the coastal belt.
The satellite picture shows scattered low and medium clouds with embedded moderate to intense convection over Telangana, Rayalseema, Coastal Odisha, Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar islands. Scattered Low and medium clouds with embedded weak to moderate convection over Kerala.
IMD has issued an orange alert in all the three coastal districts.
Canara Coast weather forecast for next two days:
June 16 (10 am) to June 17 (8.30 am): Moderate to Heavy rainfall very likely at most places. Warning: Very heavy rainfall/Thundershowers at isolated places (Orange alert).
June 17 (10 am) to June 18 (8.30 am): Moderate to Heavy rainfall very likely at many places. Warning: Heavy rain at isolated places (Yellow alert).

Weather warning for fishermen for the Karnataka coast(for the next 24 hours valid from midnight of 16 June).
Squally weather with wind speed occasionally reaching 45-55 km is likely to prevail along and off Karnataka coast.
