With AMPHAN moving North- NorthEast side, the effect of the cyclone on the coastal Karnataka has decreased. Since past two days several parts of the coastal districts received good rain. However for the next few days the region is likely to receive less rainfall.

Karnataka Coast: Nil
Kerala Coast: Strong winds from NorthWesterly direction speed occasionally reaching 40-50 kmph likely along and off Kerala Coast and over Lakshadweep area . Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea

SUPER CYCLONIC STORM OVER BAY OF BENGAL

The Super Cyclonic Storm ‘AMPHAN’ (pronounced as UM-PUN) over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 11 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at 0230 hrs IST of 20 th May, 2020 as an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal near latitude 18.7°N and longitude 87.2°E about 180 km nearly south of Paradip (Odisha), 320 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 480 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
It is very likely to move north-northeastwards across northwest Bay of Bengal and cross West Bengal – Bangladesh coasts between Digha (West Bengal) and Hatiya Islands (Bangladesh) close to Sundarbans during Afternoon to Evening hours of 20 th May 2020 with maximum sustained wind speed of 155-165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph
