Will speak to Union Minister on starting COVID-19 Test Lab at KMC: Shobha Karandlaje

Udupi, April 18: Udupi-Chikkamagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje has assured to discuss with Union Health Minister on opening a COVID-19 test lab at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

“Starting a COVID test lab in the district would help in getting results quickly. It would also help as more number of samples can be sent for testing,” she said during a meeting to monitor the COVID-19 preparedness at Udupi.

MP Shobha Karandlaje asked the officials to permit patients coming to KMC Manipal for emergency treatment along with maximum of two people to attend the patient.

She directed the officials to take necessary measures to ensure proper drinking water in rural areas.

Udupi Deputy Commissioner Mr. G Jagadeesha said that in the first stage district administration has distributed 5,388 food kits. In the second stage, 5,000 people would be provided food kit through various temples.

Tahshildars would supervise the distribution works.
