Bored sitting at home? Participate in the competition organised by Karwar Municipal Council
Karwar, April 11: Come April and the School-going children are busy with activities like Summer camps and vacation courses.
They play, learn some activities like sports, athletics, drawing or music instruments or singing, have fun and enjoy these two months. But the COVID-19 and the Lockdown has completely restricted their movement and activities.
As children and the elderly are most vulnerable, authorities repeatedly warn them not to go out.
Children in cities and towns living in apartments and small houses are the worst hit as they hardly have any activity to enjoy. The Lockdown has restricted the activities of the elders too.
The Karwar City Municipal Council has come out with an innovative idea that would not only help people keep themselves occupied but also help in displaying the talent of the people. The Urban Local Body has come out with various competitions for the people.
Competitions will be held in two categories- Under 18 children and above 18. People of all Taluks of the district can participation without any age limit.
“We aim to provide a platform to the creative, talented children to showcase their talent in the wake of Lockdown,” officials said.
Essay writing, Doodling/ drawing competitions, poetry competitions would be held.
The topics for essay writing are:
1. Lockdown Vs Daily life. Lesson learned during the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.
2. What are the changes needed to promote tourism in the Uttara Kannada district?
Interested can submit the essay either in Kannada or English not exceeding 1,000 words.
The winner of the competition will receive a commendation letter from the Deputy Commissioner in addition to the cash prize. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners would get a cash prize of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1000 respectively.
