Udupi, April 05: Several individuals and organizations are joining hands with the government in helping the poor and needy during the 21-day LockDown.
Kidiyoor Uday Kumar Family Trust (R), headed by BJP Mangaluru Vibhag Prabhari Mr. Uday Kumar Shetty has started distributing rice and meals to the needy in Udupi Taluk and nearby villages during Shutdown.
The team of volunteers lead by Mr. Uday Kumar Shetty distribute 5 kg Sona Masuri rice to each needy family and also lunch to the people.
A list of families who do not have a BPL card or any other government facilities is submitted to the trust by the volunteers, Panchayat members, and Councillors. Based on this list the team visits every village and distributes rice and lunch.
“Every day we distribute rice to about 250-300 families and lunch to about 500-600 people. We ensure social distancing while doing this. We aim to help the needy and poor during LockDown and ensure that nobody is left hungry,” Uday Kumar Shetty told https://thecanarapost.blogspot.com.
The team is based in Udupi Taluk but distributes rice and food to the villages outside Udupi too.
“If we get a proposal from outside our Taluk we will make arrangements to supply,” he assured.
