Udupi activist takes steps to highlight PM’s project on a beach
Udupi, Nov 17: The Kadike beach in Udupi district will soon be a hub of activities. If everything goes as per plan, it will be a place with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream projects like clean and green energy, Swachh Bharat, and research center.
Susi Global Research Centre in Udupi headed by Vijaykumar Hegde has come up with a comprehensive plan and is all set to be one of its kind in the region.
While Hegde has applied for permission to start a tidal power unit off Kadike beach, he wants to go beyond power generation. But he wants to do something more to the region. In April 2015 he had installed a 1kw tidal unit and in October 5 kW unit on a pilot basis. Now he is all set to produce power in a big way.
But Hegde’s dream is to develop the area into a research center and also a tourism and sports destination.
As part of the Swach Bharath Abhiyan, Hegde held a clean drive last week. But this campaign is not limited to a day.
At his research center, Hegde has invented a instrument that can drag and collect the waste dumped on the shore like bottles, plastics, slippers, and others.
“The four feet wide tool is very helpful for cleaning the beach. We will shortly mechanize it. The clean drive will be a continuous process at Kadike beach,” he told The Canara Post.
