Kannada Jyoti Rathayatra Welcomed in Karwar
Karwar, Sept 23: As part of the upcoming 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, the Kannada Jyothi Rathayatra was warmly welcomed in Karwar on Monday. The district administration performed a traditional puja at the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises to mark the Rathayatra’s arrival.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Kanishka emphasized the cultural significance of Kannada, stating that it is more than just a language, embodying a rich heritage of land, water, and culture. He wished success for the 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, scheduled to take place in Mandya from December 20 to 22.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat District President B.N. Vasare highlighted that the Kannada Jyothi Rath will tour 240 taluks across Karnataka for 87 days, spreading awareness of Kannada’s cultural and linguistic heritage. The Rathayatra will proceed from Karwar to Canacona (Goa), Joida, Dandeli, Haliyal, Yellapur, Sirsi, and Hanagal before reaching Haveri district.
The event was attended by K.S.P Taluk President Ram Naik, Tahsildar Nishchal Narona, Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Mangala M, along with other officials and dignitaries.
