New Delhi, Aug 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed people to continue the fight against COVID following all the precautionary measures.

During his address to the nation, Modi expressed satisfaction over the way India is fighting COVID. However taking serious note of the negligence by the people, with folded hands Modi asked people not to neglect social distancing and wearing of masks. As the festive season is arriving, Modi wanted people to be more careful and follow all the precautionary measures.

Lockdown gone- Corona still there:
“Lockdown might have gone but Corona is still there. This is not the time to assume that the corona is gone, or that there is no danger from the corona now. In recent times, we have all seen many pictures, videos in which it is clear that many people have now stopped taking precautions, or have brought too much laxity,” Modi told during his address to the nation.

“If you are careless, walking out without a mask, then you are putting yourself, your family, children, and the elderly of the family in trouble. Keep in mind, whether it is America today, or other countries in Europe, Corona cases were decreasing in these countries, but suddenly they are increasing again and are increasing alarmingly,” he said.

He asked the people not to neglect until a vaccine is found.

“Until the vaccine comes, we must not let our fight with Corona weaken. Many countries are working on the vaccine. Scientists in our country are also working hard. Some of the vaccines are on an advanced stage,” he said.

Govt working on the supply of vaccine:
“Whenever the vaccine of Corona arrives, the government is working on how to reach every Indian as soon as possible. So remember, there is no laxity unless there is medicine. The time of festivals is a time of joy in our lives, a time of joy.

Festive season to be happy not to neglect:
We are now moving forward. A slight carelessness can stop our movement, tarnish our happiness.

Precaution:
Two-yard distance, periodical washing of hands with soap, and applying a mask will help in this fight.

Want to see you safe:
“I want to see you safe, I want to see your family happy. In the festive season, I want to see an atmosphere of enthusiasm in your life and that is why I repeatedly urge every citizen.

Media’s role:
“Today I want to say to my media colleagues, also those people who are active in social media, that creating public awareness will be a service to the nation,” he said.

India’s achievement:
“Today the recovery rate in the country is good and the fatality rate is low. In India, about 5500 people per million population have been corona. Whereas in countries like the US and Brazil, this figure is close to 25 thousand. In India, the death rate is 83 per million people, while in many countries like America, Brazil, Spain, Britain, this figure is above 600,” he noted.

Steps to fight COVID:
“Today India has more than 90 lakh beds for COVID patients. There are 12,000 Quarantine Centers. Corona testing has around 2000 labs. The number of Tests in the country will soon cross the 100 million mark. The increasing number of tests has been a major strength in the fight against the COVID epidemic,” he added.
