DK Gears Up for Mission Indradhanush 5.0: Phase 2 Commences on September 11
Mangaluru, September 10, 2023: The Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 program is set to kick off its second phase from September 11 to 16, covering various parts of the district, according to Dr. Rajesh, the RCH Officer.
He said this during a press conference at the district health and family welfare officer’s office.
Mission Indradhanush is a vital extension of the universal immunization program, primarily aimed at identifying pregnant women and children aged 0-5 years who have not received the required immunizations, and ensuring they receive the necessary vaccinations.
In the initial phase, 857 children and 333 pregnant women were identified within municipal limits, achieving 100% progress. The second phase has seen a comprehensive house survey and an action plan devised, detailing the beneficiaries. Vaccination camps will be set up at designated locations as outlined in the action plan.
The focus of the Mission Indradhanush program in the second phase, scheduled from September 11 to 16, is to achieve over 95% full vaccination coverage while also strengthening the universal immunization program.
This time around, 5,158 children and 1,036 pregnant women have been earmarked for vaccination. Vaccines will be administered free of charge at primary health centers, local clinics, district Wenlock Hospital, and Lady Goshan Hospital from 9 am to 1 pm, and in sensitive areas from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Following vaccination, individuals will be observed for five hours, and whenever possible, they are advised to receive the vaccine in the morning.
