₹ 7.04 lakh fine collected in Udupi

Officials are imposing fine on those who do not wear mask and fail to maintain social distancing.
On a single day on Monday, officials collected ₹ ₹55,350 fine. The total fine collected by the district administration in last four month is ₹7.04 lakh.

In the initial days the district had only three COVID cases. The number multiplied later and district topped in the COVID list for a short period. Officials took all steps to control the spread of COVID cases. One of the main step was to ensure that social distancing and make people wear masks.
In the last three days, officials have further increased vigil on such violators.
According to officials, the total fine collected to date is ₹7,04,150. The highest fine collected is in Udupi Taluk (₹4,88,100). Of this Police Department imposed ₹ 4,03,700. Earlier only the ULBs, Panchayat, and Police officials were imposing fine. But now the Excise and Revenue department officials too are active in the operation.
