Uttara Kannada DC imposes Section 144 in Mundagod Tibetan Colony

Karwar: In view of the COVID-19 situation in the country, Uttara Kannada District Deputy Commissioner has imposed Section 144 at the Tibetan colony in Mundagod.

The Uttara Kannada district coordination committee and the police department had raised concerns over the increased movement of inmates at the Tibetan Colony and had recommended taking necessary action to ensure that the movement does not lead to the spreading of COVID-19.  

The order issued on Thursday prohibits assembly of more than five people in the colony. The Deputy Commissioner has banned any entry to or exit from the Tibetan Colony without the notice of Mundagod Tahsildar.

Those Tibetans who had been out of the colony due to various reasons for long and want to return should ensure that they complete the home quarantine of 14 days.  The Administrator, Central Tibetan Administration, Mundagod has been asked to ensure this and the Taluk Health Officer of Mundgod has been given the responsibility to supervise it.

The order asks the outsiders who are at present in the Tibetan colony to compulsorily undergo a medical test.

If anybody wants to go out of the Tibetan colony, they cannot return within one month without the permission of the Tahsildar.
