Lockdown violations: District administration to make the name public and also publish photos in its website
Karwar, March 26: Despite LockDown by the government, some people, especially the youths, continue to prowl on the roads. In many places, police have lathi-charged them. But Uttara Kannada DC has come up with a new idea.
“We have observed that some sections of the citizens are not able to understand the gravity of the situation and are creating nuisance unnecessarily by violating the directives of district administration,” Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar said.
“I am fully satisfied that it is the high time to deal with such people with stern legal actions. Before that it would be more effective if we create a social pressure by disclosing the names of those violators to the public in the interest of the health of the public at large,” he said.
“From Friday onwards, indelible ink will be put on the wrist of the violators for a first-time violation. But if they do not mend their ways and continue to violate for the second time then the person’s name will be announced through the public announcement system near his residential area. The photos of the third time violators will be published in the district administration website and at public places,” he warned.
“But we are confident that responsible citizens of Uttara Kannada never give a chance to take such drastic steps,” he added.
