Bus service to resume in Udupi from May 13
Udupi: For those who do not have their mode of transportation, Udupi district administration has come out with some good news.
The Udupi district administration has decided to allow private and government bus service in the district from May 13.
Deputy Commissioner G Jagadisha made this announcement on Tuesday.
“Considering the public demand we have decided to start some KSRTC and private bus services from tomorrow (May 13),” the DC said.
However, there would be restrictions. The buses would ply only within Udupi district. There would be no inter district service. The operator can fill only 50 percent of the seating capacity.
The bus service would be allowed between 7 am and 7 pm. The buses have to be sanitized after every trip. Wearing gloves and mask has been made compulsory for the driver and conductors.
“People should ensure social distancing. Also, everybody should wear a mask. Strict action would be taken and cases booked against the violators. Everybody should follow this,” he said.
Udupi district which has not recorded any COVID-19 positive case since over a month comes under the green zone.
Initially, the district had recorded three positive cases. After that, there has been no positive case in the district. It may be recollected that a pregnant woman tested COVID positive in Bhatkal too was provided treatment in Udupi.
