Bengaluru, July 24: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar has demanded the Chief Minister to waive property tax of hotels situated in commercial buildings.
In the letter to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, D K Shivakumar has stated that the hotel industry is in a bad shape due to the COVID pandemic.
“The life of lakhs of people who are depending on this industry is uncertainty. It is sad that the state has not come to help the sector,” he said.
He has asked the CM to consider the demands placed by the representatives of the Karnataka Pradesh Hotel and Restaurants Association (KPHRA).
The demands include waiving property tax of hotels situated in commercial buildings at least for one year, Direct BESCOM not to collect minimum tariffs from hotels for this year, and a special package for hotel workers.
