Former Corporator, activist Suresh Shetty no more
Mangaluru, March 13, 2021: District Congress Seva Dal chief and former Corporator Suresh Shetty died on Saturday. He was 72.
A resident of Jeppu, Suresh Shetty involved himself in environmental, health, and cleanliness campaigns. Shetty participated in the campaign and drive against Malaria and was active member of Parisarasaktara Okkuta.
An LIC agent, Shetty was active in the Congress party. He had served as the Youth Congress block president for two terms. He was also elected Corporator in the first term of Mangaluru City Corporation.
He was presently heading the District Seva Dal.
“Suresh Shetty was an inspiration to us. He used to guide us and give his suggestions on various issues. We have lost an active leader,” Mangaluru City Corporation senior corporator Naveen D’Souza said.
Former Mayor and DK Muslim Okkuta president K Ashraf has condoled the death of Suresh Shetty.
“Shetty was heading Congress Seva Dal. He had served the party and society in various capacities,” Ashraf stated in a condolence message.
Suresh Shetty suffered a heart attack when he had been to Udupi today.
