C C Patil directs officials to act against illegal mining
Udupi, Jan 06, 2021: Mines and Geology Minister C C Patil directed the officials to take strict action against illegal mining activities in the district.
Patil held a review meeting at Karkala Taluk Panchayat hall today.
“Officials should take strict action against those involved in illegal mining. They should examine all the necessary documents while issuing the permit. However permission should not be denied for small technical reasons,” he said.
He assured separate Sand Policy for the Coastal region and also to solve the glitches in the Sand app. The minister assured to hold a meeting with the senior officials to discuss the problem related to the coastal region.
The revenue target for the Udupi district is 24 crore this year. Of this, the district has achieved 16.29 crore. The minister asked the officials to meet the target by the end of the financial year.
Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat suggested linking of GPS installed sand removing boat and the truck transporting it. He felt it would control illegal sand mining.
