Unseasonal rain disrupts power supply in Belthangady
Mangaluru, Jan 04, 2021: Power supply was disrupted in many villages in and around Belthangady after they experienced unseasonal rain accompanied by wind and thunder on Sunday late evening.
Some parts of Sullia and Puttur too experienced rain.
While it was cold in the morning and bright in the afternoon, the sky turned dark by around 5 pm. Trees fell in few places due to the strong wind. However, no major damage was recorded. The rain lasted for about an hour.
Power was disrupted in many villages. While it was restored in a few hours in some places, in rural areas it was reinstated on Monday morning.
According to the district rainfall bulletin, Belthangady Taluk received the highest rain in the district. Belthangady experienced 13.5 mm rainfall. Sullia had 8.6 mm and Puttur recorded 7.3 mm.
