Mukka: Orientation Programme for B.Tech Freshers Held at Srinivas University

Mangaluru, Sept. 05, 2025: An orientation programme for the newly admitted first-year B.Tech students of the academic year 2025-26 was held on Friday at the Srinivas University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mukka.
The programme was presided over by the Pro-Chancellor of Srinivas University, Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, who inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The new students and their parents joined the dignitaries on stage for the lamp-lighting ceremony, adding a special touch to the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Satyanarayana Reddy, Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. Srinivasa Mayya D., Dean of Engineering Dr. Ramakrishna N. Hegde, and Convenor of the programme Dr. Asha Saraswathi were present on the dais.
In his welcome and keynote address, Dean Dr. Ramakrishna Hegde highlighted the 37-year journey of the Srinivas Group of Educational Institutions and briefed students on incubation, startup opportunities, and training and placement facilities.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. A. Srinivas Rao stressed the importance of a value-added curriculum that aligns with industry demands and emerging technologies. He urged students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities, develop leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. Srinivas Mayya D. explained the university’s academic structure, examination system, and evaluation process. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Satyanarayana Reddy, in his address, underlined the role of innovation in shaping the future and encouraged students to dream big, citing the example of Elon Musk. He noted that technology can address many global challenges and emphasized the need for collaboration across disciplines.
A highlight of the programme was the showcase of India’s first octa-configuration human-carrying drone, developed by Prof. Vishwas Shetty of the Mechanical Engineering Department along with students Vishakh Mendon and Aravind Wilson. The project underscored the institute’s focus on cutting-edge research and innovation.
Convenor of the program, Dr. Asha Saraswathi delivered the vote of thanks. Asha Nayak and Vaishnavi performed the invocation. Neha Karunakar, Miss Pragnya Acharya, and Prof. Rohan Fernandes compered the program.
