16 Complaints Uncover Issues in Ayushman Scheme
Mangaluru, Dec 04, 2023: A total of 16 complaints related to failure of private hospitals in the district to provide prescribed facilities and the collection of excessive payments from patients under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka Scheme have been registered since March 2023.
This was stated during the district grievance redressal committee meeting of the Ayushman Scheme, chaired by DC Mullai Muhilan on Monday.
Officials emphasized the obligation of hospitals to provide all facilities covered under the scheme to enrolled patients. District Health Officer Dr. K. Thimmaiah stressed that hospitals should adhere to the government-fixed charges and refrain from collecting additional amounts.
In the current year, the public has filed 16 complaints against private hospitals in the district. Notably, nine cases have already been resolved at the district health officer level.
The Deputy Commissioner urged hospitals to ensure the provision of adequate services to scheme-enrolled patients, minimizing the occurrence of complaints.
The meeting was attended by ADC Dr. G Santhosh Kumar, Probationary IAS officer Mukul Jain, Ayushman Bharat Nodal officer Dr. Sudarshan, and others.
