Uppinangady Incident: Ten arrested
Mangaluru, Dec 16, 2021: Ten persons have been arrested in a case related to the Uppinangady incident.

The protest by the PFI activists had turned violent on Tuesday night. Nine police officials and several protestors were injured in the incident. Following this Puttur Assistant Commissioner had imposed Section 144 in the subdivision limits. Police had filed three cases in connection to the incident.
Now ten persons have been arrested on charges including criminal force and attack on women police, attempt to murder and causing hurt to deter police officials from their duty.
The arrested include Mohammed Tahir, Swadhik, Abdul Mubarak, Abdul Shareen, Mohammed Jahir, Sujeer Mahammed Faizal, Mohammed Haneef, N Kasim, Mohammed Asif, and Tufail Mahammed.
The cases was filed under IPC section 143 (Unlawful assembly),147 (Rioting),151 (Knowingly joining or continuing in assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse),341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (Assault of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (Mischief causing damage), 307 (attempt to murder), 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) along with 149 (unlawful assembly).
